The time integral of the equivalent dose rate in a particular tissue or organ that will be received by an individual following intake of radioactive material into the body by a Reference Person, where [math]τ[/math] is the integration time in years. (ICRP Publication 103, 2007)

The committed equivalent dose ([math]H_\text{T}(τ)[/math]) in a tissue or organ [math]\text{T}[/math] is defined by:

[math] H_\text{T}(τ)= \int\limits_{t_0}^{t_0+τ} H_\text{T}(t)\text{d}t [/math]
